# YouTube Public Data

> Public YouTube data on the platform key - search, trending, video and channel stats, comments.

Reads public YouTube data through the YouTube Data API v3 on FlyMyAI's own
API key - no OAuth, works on every account. Uploading, own-channel analytics
and captions of your own videos stay on the OAuth connectors
([YouTube](https://docs.flymy.ai/mcp/youtube.md) and [YouTube Data](https://docs.flymy.ai/mcp/youtube-data.md)).

## What it can do

| `youtube_search` | Keyword search with a date window, country, language, duration (short = Shorts), category, channel, definition, captions, live state, licence and geo filters; sort by relevance, date, viewCount or rating. View/like/comment counts, duration and topics are included by default. |
| `youtube_search_channels` | Find creators by topic, niche or name; subscriber/video/view counts, country, handle and uploads playlist id. |
| `youtube_trending` | The mostPopular chart for a country, optionally narrowed to a category - the cheapest first step of a trend scan. |
| `youtube_stats` | Statistics and details for a batch of up to 50 videos by id or link. |
| `youtube_get_channels` | Channels by id, @handle or link: counts, country, topics, uploads playlist id. |
| `youtube_channel_latest` | A channel's latest videos, newest first, with statistics. |
| `youtube_playlist_items` | Items of any public playlist by id or a link with `list=`. |
| `youtube_comments` | Public comment threads of a video, by relevance or time, with optional replies and a search-terms filter. |
| `youtube_comment_replies` | All replies to one top-level comment. |
| `youtube_categories` | Category ids and names for a country. |

Quota: `search.list` has its own bucket of 100 calls per day for the whole
platform; every other call costs 1 unit from the 10,000-units-per-day bucket.
Every response reports `quota_units_used` and `search_calls_used`. To watch

## How to get credentials

None - the YouTube Data API key lives on FlyMyAI infrastructure. Just enable
the tool.

## Troubleshooting

- **`quotaExceeded`** - the daily bucket is used up; it resets at midnight
  Pacific time. Prefer `youtube_trending`, `youtube_channel_latest` and
  `youtube_stats` over repeated searches, and batch keywords with `|`.
- **`commentsDisabled`** - the uploader turned comments off for that video.
- **Channel not found** - pass the `UC...` id, the `@handle`, or a
  `youtube.com/@handle` / `youtube.com/channel/UC...` link; legacy `/c/name`
  URLs are not resolvable.
