# Slack

> Your own Slack account for agents - search, channels and DMs, files, canvases, lists and reminders.

Lets an agent work in Slack as you: search messages and files, read and post
in channels and direct messages, share files, write canvases and lists, set
reminders and manage user groups. Every action runs as the person who
connected and sees only what that person can see in Slack. Connect once with
OAuth - there is no token to paste.

This is the default Slack connector. To post as the FlyMyAI bot in channels it
was added to, use [Slack Bot](https://docs.flymy.ai/mcp/slack-bot.md).

## What it can do

| Area | What the agent can do |
| --- | --- |
| Search | Messages, files, or both, with Slack's search syntax (`in:#channel`, `from:@person`, `before:`, `has:link`). |
| Channels and DMs | List and inspect conversations, read history and threads, open DMs and group DMs, create, rename, archive, invite, join and leave channels, set topic and purpose. |
| Messages | Post, reply in threads, schedule, update and delete messages, ephemeral messages, permalinks. |
| Files | List, read, download into a FlyMyAI file, upload a FlyMyAI file or an HTTPS URL, share or revoke a public link, remote files. |
| Canvases and lists | Create, edit and read canvases, set access; create Slack lists, add, update and delete items, export. |
| People and groups | Users, profiles, presence, email lookup, user groups and their members. |
| Everything else | Reactions, pins, bookmarks, reminders, saved items, Do Not Disturb, calls, emoji, workspace info. |

Every method of Slack's Web API that a person's own token can call is
covered. Workspace admin methods (`admin.*`), bot-only and app-level methods
are not part of this connector.

## How to get credentials

Slack uses OAuth - nothing to copy.

1. In FlyMyAI, open **Slack** in the MCP list and click **Connect**.
2. Slack asks you to pick the workspace and approve FlyMyAI's access to your
   account. Click **Allow**.
3. You're back in FlyMyAI and the connector shows **Connected**.

Agents ask before they post, change or delete anything.

## Fields to fill in FlyMyAI

No fields - the OAuth flow stores your Slack access automatically. To switch
workspaces, remove the connector and connect again.

## Troubleshooting

- **`missing_scope`** - the connection was approved before a permission was
added. Reconnect Slack and approve again.
- **Reading channel history is slow** - Slack lets apps outside the Slack
Marketplace read history and threads at about one call a minute and 15
messages per call. Agents search first (`slack_search_messages`) and read
history only around what they found.
- **The approval screen says an admin must approve** - your workspace
restricts apps; ask a workspace admin to approve FlyMyAI.
